Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes Preview

9th Race - Belmont Park - Monday, May 31st, 2010
STAKES. 1 1/8 Mile Turf. Purse $150,000. Sands Point S. (Grade 2). INNER TURF FOR FILLIES THREE YEARS OLD

Plenty of good value here to be had with a lot of different form references relevant and the tight turning turf circuit makes the barrier draws and pace scenario paramount to many of the major chances here, we are predicting a double figure priced winner here in the form of Ultimate Class.

No1 Ultimate Class - made all last start at Churchill Downs over 1m on turf to score going away in deep stretch by 3.5l, form refs through 2nd and 3rd home read well with Elusive Temper in 2nd being a very impressive maiden winner the start prior by a good margin in what now looks a strong maiden at at Fair Grounds, 3rd home was Jungle Tale also adds good depth to the form btn 5.5l behind Ultimate Class the start prior it was btn 5.2l in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Santa Anita, Ultimate Class id drawn on the rail to find the lead without working at all into the first bend and should be able to dictate the pace down the back, it will kick on strong into the stretch run and prove hard to run down and at 15/1 prepost represents very good value.

No4 Check The Label - overly consistent filly who has been freshened since scoring last start in G3 company at Keeneland over a mile winning The Appalachian, that day defeated next start winner Bay To Bay who came out and won the $200K American 1000 Guineas next start at Arlington Park franking the form, 3rd home that day also franks the form being Rose Catherine who was btn 5.5l and it previously was only btn 0.5l in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf behind Tapitsfly, 2 other next start winners also come out of that G3 win behind Check The Label adding further good depth to the form, it is drawn well in the 4 alley to secure a soft trip back in midfield and should prove the testing material for Ultimate Class closing off hard in deep stretch.

No8 Negligee - 3rd up from a spell here and form since returning has been below par compared to its Juvenile form which has it as a G1 winner in the Darley Alcibiades at Keeneland over 9f, the form out of that race reads well compared to the form out of the Breeders Cup Juvenile fillies race which a lot of the runners it beat competed in next start as did this one when it had a luckless trip finishing 6th btn 1.7l behind She Be Wild which it defeated in the Alcibiades, it is drawn the outside gate here and may get caught deep facing the breeze with no cover into the 1st bend, the pace scenario is against it, all the same it is the proven class runner but needs to overcome the bad draw and refind its juvenile form to win here.

1st Ultimate Class
2nd Check The Label
3rd Negligee

Good value betting affair and if Ultimate Class gets the right trip it may prove hard to run down at the big odds of 15/1 on offer prepost, back it to win along with Check The Label who can also be backed to win as the 2nd elect for a result across the race.

Grade 1 Metropolitian Handicap Preview

10th Race - Belmont Park - Monday, May 31st, 2010
STAKES. 1 Mile Dirt. Purse $500,000. Metropolitan H. (Grade 1). A HANDICAP FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD

A field of 8 for this race and the last start wide margin G1 winner Quality Road is the one to beat here.

No7 Quality Road - comes into this primed to make it 2 Grade 1 wins on end after braining his foes in the G1 Donn Handicap last start at Gulfstream by 12.7l back in February, his latest works have been nothing short of spectacular suggesting he is primed to make it 3 wins on end this year. Priced at 1.80 prepost shapes as above the odds as we have him assessed as a 1.63 chance here.

No3 Musket Man - not at his best on a sloppy surface last start when 3.2l 3rd to Atta Boy Boy in the G2 Churchill Downs, that run can be forgiven, his 1st up effort 2 starts ago was full of merit when nosed out by Warrior's Reward in the G1 Carter Handicap at Aqueduct, he got held up looking for a split one off the rail in the early stretch whilst Warrior's Reward came wide on the bend and wound up un-hindered and gained the momentum needed to get the better of Musket Man close home, May 09 saw Musket Man finish a close up 3rd to Rachel Alexandra and Mine That Bird in the Preakness making up significant headway in deep stretch, the extra 1f up to the mile will suit him here and makes him the likely only danger to Quality Road if there is one, we have him assessed as a 5.00 chance here.

1st Quality Road
2nd Musket Man

These 2 will fight the race out with a clear obvious big leaning to Quality Road.

Chepstow (UK) Bets For Tuesday

Punters can kick their betting day off on Tuesday in a very strong note by getting stuck into the first 3 races from Chepstow where we are very confident about 3 chances on that card who all look very well placed.

For more high class tips for FREE daily go to our main website at www.fromthehorsesmouth.com.au

HTML clipboard Chepstow 2.20 R1 No1 Rojo Boy (3) - finished 5.5l 4th in one of the strongest 2yo races of the season last start behind the super impressive and very well bred Redoute's Choice colt Elzaam, big margin to 5th adds big merit to the performance, meets an overly average field here in both raced and un-raced brigades, anything better than 11/8 or 2.35 is good value, 2/1 should be readily bet on the exchanges.

Chepstow 2.50 R2 No1 Acquaviva (2) - dont let the 50/1 odds of this one last start when finishing 1.2l 3rd to Pose deceive you, the form out of that race suggests it clearly hit a new career peak which puts it in this up to its ears, the winner of that race was only btn 3.5l by Shamandar in a valuable 123K sales race at Ascot in September, also put a good margin 3rd to 4th beating home some well bred types in 4th 5th and 6th, good scope for more, easily will measure up here in this fairly average race for the class, the only major query is Mick Channon trained Leitzu but it drops from 8f back to 6f which will be a hard task on the 17 day back up, prefer it fresher, anything better than 9/4 or 3.20 looks acceptable value here.

Chepstow 3.20 R3 No1 Lastkingofscotland (2) - another very weak race for the class on the Chepstow card and this one looks very hard to hold out on the quick back up after finishing 4th last start btn 3l by Aegean Shadow, highly consistent of recent times including a good 3.7l win 3 back at Folkestone followed up by 2 back when 3rd in a strong race for the grade behind Kingswinford, anything better than 3.50 or 5/2 represents good value.

Benalla - A Quick View - Saturday 15 May 2010

It shapes as a good betting meet at Benalla on Saturday which is likely to be played out on a dead track, the rail is Out 2m from 1600-800m, Out 4m from 800-400m, Out 3m the remainder.

Benalla - 15 May 2010
Race 2 - a few well bred types here but it is the Rock Of Gibraltar youngster from the hot Dale Sutton yard that makes the most appeal on 1st viewing by the name of Rockbel.
Race 3 - this race is full of well bred youngsters but the Mick Price trained 1st starter Moussaieff is potentially the best bred of the lot on a speed line by Encosta De Lago out of the high class Danehill mare Vain Hill, she is also drawn well to secure a good trip.
Race 4 - Mateo shapes as the one to beat here on exposed form in what looks an overly average race for the tag associated.
Race 5 - Mick Price has another major chance in this race in the form of the very well bred type Dreams To Life, he is by Show A Heart out of the Royal Academy mare Academy Of Dreams making this one a full brother to Heart Of Dreams and a half brother to Rightfully Yours.
Race 6 - The well bred type Hukba drops sharply in class here on exposed form for the astute Hayes yard, by Shamardal out of the top class race mare Doduo she looks to be well weighted here on effort 2 back when only btn 0.9l for a $22K purse over the same trip, the 12 alley does pose a significant query but she has class on this lot.
Race 7 - Stack Em has super hot form refs coming into this 7 horse affair, the 4yo daughter of Secret Saving bolted up on debut by 3.5l with 2nd 3rd and 4th out of that race all winning next start adding massive depth to the form out of the race.
Race 8 - Michael Moroney produces Am Ready 1st up from a spell here and it has class on its side, the lightly raced 4yo son of More Than Ready bolted up 1st up over this trip 2 preps ago by 0.1l with a good margin to 3rd, 2nd home came out and won its next 2 on end franking the form significantly. Has to lump a big weight from a wide gate which adds a few queries but class may prevail.

Flemington - A Quick View - Saturday 15 May 2010

Plenty of good sized fields greet us at Flemington on Saturday which should create good value about most of the races, early weather has it as a Dead track with Showers likely Friday into Saturday, the overall conditions may deteriorate. The biggest certainty of the day is potentially Precious Lorraine in Race 2 and the best value is probably with Tindal in Race 7.

Flemington - 15 May 2010
Race 2 - Tarp looked very good chasing home the potential blacktype horse Cat's Pyjamas 2 starts ago at Caulfield over 1100m, being by Bletchley Park she is sure to appreciate the step up in trip to 1400m and is well drawn to secure a good trip on pace tracking the leaders.
Race 3 - Precious Lorraine is very well bred by Encosta De Lago out of the good mare Monsoon Wedding and put big margins in a small 5 horse field coming from last at Morphettville last start in Listed company, the form out of that race through 3rd home looks very strong, this is a weak Listed race, she should make it 2 on end for the Hayes yard.
Race 4 - Potential hot form race for future reference, Beyond Pardon looked good winning 2 back and has big scope on the back of its last start 2nd to Sophrosyne, that form race ref may be under-estimated here.
Race 6 - Grand Destiny looked good chasing home Ajhar who he meets again here, has a bit in his favour inc weight turn around and more scope for improvement for fitness, Grand Destiny the one to beat.
Race 7 - Tindal has potentially more scope than the rest of these and gets in well weighted after the claim for Hill, carries 50kg, he looked a superstar knocking off Heart Of Dreams over this track and distance 2 preps ago, the alley is against him here but he has claims for a hot yard at a likely good price.
