Saturday 20/03/2010 - Rosehill - A Quick View
These quick view previews do not form our final race picks or analysis, they are merely a quick early analysis of some of the factors for different races by putting a quick eye over the fields to highlight important factors.
Early in the day the 2yo's do battle in 2 more Golden Slipper lead up races, we need to look at those in depth and will do so with more detailed previews as Friday progresses. Initial viewing suggests they are not as cut and dried as the betting markets make out.
Race 5 is a great pointer for serious punting, another of hte highly promising Lonhro progeny resumes for the Snowden yard, how many of this field can say they have beaten Trusting, Starspangledbanner and Nicastro on the same day. Demerit can, he has massive scope and looks well placed here.
We potted Rangirangdoo last start and backed Theseo confidently to beat him, it is likely we will be potting Rangirangdoo again here, he is slightly over-rated in our books and one of those horses that always goes around a bit short because the public like him so much. No doubt he will be unders here creating good value once again about other serious chances in the race.
A classic looking Coolmore field greets us in Race 6, hard to go past the 3 highly touted 3yo's Irish Lights, Faint Perfume and Set For Fame, of those 3 we really liked the way Faint Perfume closed hard from off the pace 1st up in Melbourne and that form has since been franked with with Response who finished 2nd winning at Group 3 level next start.
The form around Al Dhafra's last start win at Canberra looks strong in Race 7 but with the picket fence next to his name he may be unders.
On initial viewing Demerit looks the best on offer in Sydney on Saturday, early track ratings has this meeting set to be played out on a Dead 4 track and rail is in the true position making for hopefully a level playing field for all runners.
